Silvermane

Harlan Dark Agouti Self Silvermane's

Black Self Silvermane.

My Silvermane line was imported from Exotic Whiskers Rattery in Canada as a co-shipment between myself and Emerald City Rattery in March 2016. This marked the first-ever introduction of their variety to Colorado.

The Silvermane breed is relatively new, having been discovered by Squeaks and Nibbles Rattery in North Carolina in 2012.

Silvermane rats have a unique coat that combines silver hairs with their natural body color. They are known for their very soft coats.

My line has a particularly sweet and curious disposition. They are always the first to greet you at the door, and they have plenty of energy to play. It's worth noting that there appear to be multiple lines of SM rats; Jessica from Squeaks and Nibbles Rattery informs me that my line comes from the first of two batches she had, which were known for being very mellow and docile. She notes that not many breeders have access to rats from her initial batch, whereas there was an outcross done at Squeaks and Nibbles that resulted in more aggressive individuals. Since I don't have any rats from the second batch, mine are indeed the sweet ones.
